Heeello I am the founder of  GANKA and I am from Belgrade, Serbia. Through playful, colorful illustrations and pattern design I am making unique pieces of accessory and clothing with embroidery details. 

I finished the "School of Textile Design" and during that time gained practical knowledge in construction and modeling, tailoring and sewing. I graduated at the Stage Costume Department at the Faculty of Applied Arts. During studies I had the opportunity to research and build my own art expression, while experimenting with cuts and a wide range of different materials and fabrics. I graduated Master studies in the same department.

​I make everything in my studio, from pattern design to sewed products.

What I see as the most important aspect of my brand is that it stands for a small production of unique items. Every accessory is printed out on fabric, hand embroidered and beaded. Each product goes through several phases of production and here is how they look like

For each collection I create a new illustration. Even though you can see that some illustrations repeat throughout the collection, embroidery is always different, and that is what makes every product unique.

The first part of the process is the most interesting - I do the research, and based on it I do the sketches and drawings. When I am satisfied with how an illustration turned out, I prepare a pattern for fabric printing. Most of the products are digitally printed. For some of the products, such as t-shirts and hoodies, I do the screen printing.

Then comes the most exciting part of the process: the embroidery! The embroidery technique I use the most is punch needle. I am trying to do it very neat and to play in different ways with every illustration. Using embroidery, I dress my illustrated characters and thus I allow my costume designer skills to show up - they allow me to choose the dressing that fits every character the best  :)
 
As the final step I sew the product. It might not be the most fun part of the process but it finishes with the big smile on my face
